"I've been around so long, I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin," the comedian Oscar Levant once remarked.

  Football in the 80's

Took your life in your hands going to football back then. Not glamorising it as it was brutal, but haven't times changed.

Bournemouth Game Discussion (12th May 2019)
Posted by: The Expat Eagle - 11-05-2019, 00:31 AM - Forum: General Palace Discussion (Visible To Guests) - Replies (16)

I would suspect it will be an unchanged side for the visit of Bournemouth on Saturday. Speroni won't be playing, no point risking Benteke if he is fit. The only possible change is PvA in for Ward.

The game is a £1.4m winner takes all game as if Bournemouth win they will go above us and we'd lose the extra prize money. There is a chance if we win and West Ham lose that we could go above them but as it's the last day anything can happen.

  Other peoples kids
Posted by: Marteagle - 10-05-2019, 15:34 PM - Forum: Comrade Chit-Chat (Visible To Guests) - Replies (3)

I don't know whether it's because I'm getting older, but other peoples brats get right on my tits !

You can't go out now without some little git running around like a looney, or screaming the place down. Then you get the stupid gobshite of a mother shouting at little Keanu or Apple-Blossom which makes matters worse.

And as for kids being allowed in pubs. Don't get me started on that one. If you can't get a baby sitter then stay at home. Don't impose your scabby offspring on adults who seek refuge in what should be a kid-free sanctuary.

Oh, and don't show me any photos of your little darlings doing their first whatever. I don't give a toss.

Smile (sort of)

Another one leaving the Nest.
Great servant. Cup final goal a highlight.
Being honest he's not prem quality anymore, but hope he shines elsewhere.

What podcasts do you listen to?
Any you'd recommend?
I enjoy Lineker and Baker, dunno if that's a dead duck now though.
Novara media's pods are interesting, even if some of the presenters are up their own jacksies, but normally a good left wing slant on events.
If you liked the Wire, The Wire Stripped isn't bad.
As for palace pods, I can't get on with FYP.  Back of the Nest is good.
